#Deponia characters series#
You had 3 games of character development, and by the time you got to end of the third game you could pretty much guess how the charecters were going to act ahaid of time, directly attributing to why the main series is so funny. The plan was to blow up Elysium with a canon stolen from the Organon to prevent that decision to blow up the planet is even made. A big part of what made the other Deponia games great was the characters inside of it. He becomes general of the from Rufus formed resistance because he has real plan to stop the detonation of Deponia. Turn back time and see a new spin on the junk-planet's history. Seagull survives the shot and fall, even though he has now one eye and one leg less.

Dive right into this frantic sequel of the Deponia cult-trilogy and join the chaotic anti-hero Rufus on his most peculiar adventure.Just imagine if this amazing technology would fall into the wrong hands! But was this really just a dream? With the help of McChronicle, a quirky temporal scientist, who discovered strange time-anomalies, Rufus discovers that some time travelers from the future carelessly parked their time machine in his neighborhood.Deponia and his well-shaved face had to survive! Of course he realized that these gruesome events -especially the mustache part- had to be prevented from ever happening. As the last surviving Deponian, he fought savage fewlocks, but in the end, there was only one way out: He had to blow up Deponia! And. But at what price? Elysium, the floating city crash-landed on the planet. One fateful night, Rufus awakes from a haunting nightmare: he sacrificed himself to save Deponia. In the end, while I understand that Rufus's personality may be a turn off for someone who's more used to playing a classic hero, I think that participating in his maladjusted way of approaching problems and relationships is fascinating and constantly keeps me engaged in the character much in the way that watching Game of Thrones keeps you watching almost out of sheer horror. That being said, Rufus does have plenty of interesting moments where we get to see him poking through. So realistic character arcs aren't as likely. The second thing is that while this is a game with some pretty adult themes, these are largely cartoon characters with exaggerated emotions and characteristics. The first game lays it on pretty thick, and while he does have a bunch of different "redeeming moments" he never truly becomes a classically "good" person. And antiheroes are people who we feel compelled to see them through their arc even if we don't actually believe they deserve to win. To begin with, Rufus is very obviously an antihero. This is a bit of a necro thread, I know but I wanted to weigh in a bit in case you haven't already finished the series.
